This website provides information about the first 30 years of the playgroup movement in the UK, and about some of the celebrations that took place in 2011 of the 50 years since playgroups first appeared. 

It has been compiled by a group of people who played key roles in the Pre-school Playgroups Association during those early years.

To preserve the memory of the pioneering days of the Playgroup Movement, packs of cards are available. 

They are illustrated with The Playgroup Rose, the beautiful bloom developed in 1986 by Rosemary Roses to celebrate the Silver Jubilee of the Pre-school Playgroups Association. 

The cards are blank inside so you can add your own message and use for a variety of purposes.

Packs of 5 are available for a sale price of £2 a pack (including postage).  Send your order, with a cheque made out to

Proceeds from sales will help to fund the archives and this website.
